FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHAT IS MICROBLADING?

Microblading, also referred to as semi permanent makeup, is a technique for those looking to give their brows that extra fullness and flawless look.

It is the process of implanting colour pigment into the epidermal layers of the skin by means of tiny, sterile disposable needles to produce hair strokes that enhance the natural brow.

HOW LONG DOES MICROBLADING LAST?

It is considered semi permanent and will fade over time. You may require a color refresh approximately every 1 -2 years, depending on skin type and a number of factors. These factors include:

-sun exposure

-pigments used -lighter shades fade quicker.

- Skin types will retain pigments differently

-lifestyle

IS THE PROCEDURE PAINFUL?

Pain thresholds vary from person to person, however a highly effective topical numbing cream is applied before and during the procedure to keep you the most comfortable.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO PRIOR TO MICROBLADING?

First - a consultation is absolutely required. This is a free appointment.

Keep all natural brow hairs, if any waxing is desired, complete 3 days prior.

You may fill them in if desired for shaping consideration, on the day of.

Avoid all blood thinning medications, such as Ibuprofen, Aspirin, Vitamin E & fish oils for 48 hours.

No alchohol 24 hours prior- this also thins your blood, affecting healing.

No caffeine 24 hours and limit spicy foods

No Suntan or sunburns in the area for 30 days or we cannot perform the service. The skin peeling from a sunburn will take the pigment with it, therefore poor results.

No accutane medication for 12 months

WHAT IS THE HEALING TIME?

This is the most important part to consider when booking your appointment as they require a few weeks to heal with several different stages during the healing process.

Plan your trips/vacations a minimum of 14 days after procedure.

It takes 2 weeks for the superficial or visible layers of the skin to heal.

Your brows are fully healed at the 6 week mark.

Day 2-5 your brows will be dark, possibly darker than day 1 as the pigment settles.

Day 4-6 will present some light peeling of the skin, revealing lighter and softer hair strokes.

During the flaking stage your brows may appear dull. Trust the process. They brighten back up at the 5-6 week mark once fully healed.

If this is your first ever procedure, a 6 week touch up is required as you will find 30-40% of the hair strokes may have disappeared or faded during the initial healing process.

For most people, 2 appoinments are necessary to complete the brows however some skin types can retain less pigment and additional touch ups can be done at the 6 month mark and on, as your skin requires them.

Additional sessions will be charged at current pricing.

Results cannot be guaranteed as skin types vary and will breakdown pigment at different rates. Aftercare must be followed for best results.

Extremely oily skin types will not retain pigment well, and achieving those nice crisp hair strokes is difficult as this skin type is constantly producing oil and will disperse the pigment. Shading techniques may be more suitable for you if this is your skin type.

Anemic clients will experience pigment fading sooner, and bruising may be present after the procedure.

HOW OLD DO I NEED TO BE TO HAVE IT DONE?

You must be 18 years of age for all microblading and semi permanent makeup services. No exceptions.
